Today's makes

One thing I am finding out is that when hubby and I have a disagreement I lock myself away in the craft room and craft. Not the best way to do it but if it works - well he is home all week. So this is what I have got done today. All A6 in size apart from the Fairy on Tartan which is A5 size/

These were some I made a couple of days ago using the wonderful art work of Toni Arthurs whose work can be bought from her Facebook Page HERE. These are mine to send out so not for selling so I made these 8 x 8.

The church one has snowflakes cut out with the Cricut.

The Robin one has a bow that took an hour to make no matter how hard I tried I couldn't manage it so resorted to You Tube in the end. 5 minutes later a finished bow.

I apologise that the pictures are now watermarked this is to protect the people who produce the digi stamps. It is a shame that people out there are prepared to share their work usually for a small price and often for free and people feel free to rip them off from making a little income. I always try to add a link to the website where the image can be found. If you want to find out more check out HERE

And finally my latest card makes using Craft Artist 2

This is the insert for the Bagpuss card using the stencil function for the first time

More storage (but only a tiny one)

I had lots of different tubs and pots holding my essentials - e/g pencils, knife, scissors - you get the idea.

So when browsing through those catalogues that arrive in the mail I saw this make up organiser and thought now that is brilliant just what I need. So I ordered it. I then got a letter informing me it was sold out but they were sending a replacement. Oh great I thought it won't be wood or it will be plastic and horrible. Looked through the website with the number they had quoted but nothing came up.

Well it arrived and it was the identical one to the one I had ordered. Confused just a bit and it doesn't take much these days.

Anyway what do you think of it

Progress in the craft room

Well the craft room is looking a little bit more like I can use it. I am getting on with making some Christmas cards. The new storage has arrived and a joiner friend said he would try to get here to put them together. Sadly he has not shown so his morning job has obviously overrun. Oh well.

This is what the craft room looks like today before the storage gets added not much different from a couple of weeks ago but it is finally all unpacked so I can at least access stuff now.

Oh and one final thing (as this is not just crafting) Proof that all things Christmas are real for those cynics out there

Today's Efforts

So much for being creative today.

On unpacking my craft stuff I have realised I have a lot of free papers from Making Cards Magazine and the inspirations Magazine from Crafter's Companion. So I am on a mission not buying anything else until I have used these up (and believe me there is a lot of them). I also have lots of half finished Christmas Cards which never got finished last year or sent so again I am on a  mission to finish these over the next few weeks.

I have made 6 cards today and I am only pleased with one of them.
Card for my Mum's birthday - she will be 87 on Tuesday.
this is the only one I can say I was happy with.
This card is for my Mum to send to her friend.
I'm not happy with it as I feel the pink card used for matting and layering is wrong. It could have used a darker colour but I cannot find half of my stash in the mess that is my craft room.
I was really pleased with this 3D decoupage card until I realised the obvious mistake.
in case you can't see it like my DH I forgot to leave tartan border all the way round it and stuck it on the edge on one side.
I found some tea bag papers so thought I would have a go again.
I only had three papers in this design hence the strange half design.
it is missing something and needs something adding above the gold strip but not sure what yet.
Not sure about this one either - again I feel it lacks something.
I feel this one is a little plain but not sure what else to do to it.
Last picture for today, this arrived this morning - the first of  my purchases that was ordered on Thursday, what a quick service  -  as I was sat crying over a post on Facebook (see below) - god knows what the delivery man thought .

On Facebook I  have followed a little girl from Market Rasen called Claudia see here for more info who has been fighting for her life against a dreadful illness. Sadly, this morning I read on Facebook that Claudia had lost her fight for life. I sat and cried for her parents and siblings, for their loss and for the fact that the smile on her face in pictures shared  will no longer be there.

Another star shines brightly in the sky tonight

God has another Angel at his side

Craft Update - Creating (or maybe not) and Spending money

For those who don't know me (which I am guessing is no-one as I doubt anyone but me reads this blog). In my old house I had a beautiful craft room. The smallest bedroom had been shelved out had a built in cupboard and it was organised so that I could find everything I needed at a glance.

When we moved here to the bungalow the aim was to try and sell my cards (not much hope of that) and I was going to transform the second bedroom into my craft room. Hmm almost three months on and everything was still in the packing boxes and I was threatening to sell everything as I couldn't motivate myself to craft.

So a couple of weekends ago  hubby and I set to on sorting out the craft room. We made good progress but had to abandon it towards the end of the day. The understanding being that it would be sorted before he went to the football on the 25th October. Should have known better. I need to state here this is my fault not his, due to my weight being so bad that I can't move around moving stuff without Hubby to help me. So the plan was to finish it on a couple of mornings this week before he went to work after lunch.

Friday 17th October saw my Scan and Cut arrive. The box had been in the wars but everything was there. It is now sat on the worktop waiting for me to play but I won't do that until the craft room is sorted out.

Saturday 20th October saw us go to buy a bookcase to store all the folders, etc on. Ended up buying metal shelving as it was deeper and would be easier to put together - famous last words. Instructions were stupid but once we sorted it out went together in 10 minutes. I contacted Lee at Hayes Joinery to see if he knew anyone to put the units together when I buy them and he said he would do them so one less worry. I am sure we could put them together but to avoid WW3 and make sure they are done properly it will be less stressful.

Monday 20th October saw me finally order the two units from Storage for Crafts I am having for the craft room.

This unit is two columns of 12 x 12 boxes. The other holds a number of different sizes of my favourite really useful boxes.

Thursday 23rd October
The result of our hard labour this morning - not looking much better to be honest.

The new shelving unit from Argos - similar to this - this now houses stuff from folders. It had been my intention to put the folders into the white magazine files from Ikea  but none of them fitted so the files were emptied and the contents put straight into the magazine files.

Currently, this area will be where the cutting machines live. The new Scan and Cut is on the table but as I have said until the craft room is sorted I won't play - hopefully this will spur me on to get it sorted.
This is the opposite wall and is is my crafting area. The table came from Ikea

Thursday and Friday saw me being very bad (with hubby's blessing) and order a few items from Crafter's Companion.

Saturday 25th October
Today hubby was off to watch Nottingham Forest play so it was going to be my day for crafting and hopefully finding my lost mojo. However finding my mojo in a craft room where most of the items are not in a specific place makes it hard to find anything let alone craft. I  made 6 cards. one was okay the other 5 I was not happy with. Will add them to a different post.

Given up again

I have given up on the dieting yet again and feel such a failure. It was making me obsessive about food an when you are thinking about what you are going to eat for this meal and the next one it isn't good. So once again I am a FAILURE and will just have to try and do it on my own (not holding out much hope on that one).

Fell off the wagon big time

Well I've fallen off the wagon big time.

Went to get weighed at the end of week two and had lost- making the total 3.5lb off. I had every intention of getting weighed the following Friday in Scunthorpe before going off on holiday but then it all went down hill.  If it wasn't nailed down I ate it.

So much so that I decided not to get weighed and just go on holiday and enjoy it as much as I could and get back on it when I came home. I then had every intention of getting weighed on the Saturday as normal. The holiday (the least said the better) was not good for food and ate lots of rubbish although I tried to limit the crap,

Saturday came and I didn't go to weigh on as we got up late and I had sort of decided to not go back as every waking moment is spent thinking about food  and what to eat or not to eat.

I have tried my best to get back on track and have sort of but my heart isn't in it at the moment. I am still undecided about going back and have decided that if I do it will have to be the class in Scunthorpe as circumstances are making it impossible to get to the other one no matter how much I like it.

Moving More
I am aiming to move more this week. A couple of weeks ago whilst wearing the pedometer I noticed that I was only managing 500 steps a day as my mobility is so restricted. It is my aim to get up and walk to the kitchen / bedroom a little more if I possibly can. Obviously the more I move means the more I might be able to move in the future.

So this week I am aiming for 500 a day (shameful I know - and I hate admitting it is so little)

Steps taken
1021 - not a true reading as it registered at least 100 while sat in car

Week 2/ Day 1

Week One Review
WEIGHT LOSS THIS WEEK
2lb off this week

POSITIVES

  • I ate breakfast every day- it might not have been the traditional breakfast of cereal but I ate something every day
  • I stuck to the plan 100%
  • My favourite meal had to be Salmon Salad - for someone who hates salad i think this says a lot as I can still have my favourite ready to eat salmon with a sweet chilli coating
STRUGGLES
  • Some days I have struggled to eat all my pp each day
  • also tracking has confused me as when I track in my journal then put it into the e-source they haven't tallied e.g. WW mini rolls are 2 each but if I have 2 at different parts of the day it looks as if I had 2 together and then the points are 5pp and not 4pp as my journal shows.
PRIORITIES FOR THE WEEK
  • continue to eat breakfast
  • wear my pedometer each day - even though I know I will not reach more than 500 a day due to my mobility problems due to the weight I carry
  • have at least 2 filling and healthy day
  • LOSE 2lb at weigh in
Thoughts on the week
I lost 2lb at weigh in. I am happy with this and also not. I know, as it is my first week, I could have lost more but as I move so little I know this was hooping so really happy with the 2lb off Onwards and upwards - 2lb a week could mean 2 stone off by Christmas.

We decided to have lunch out on the way home from weigh in. I had already checked to see if the place we were going to was listed in EAT OUT book and it was. I struggled to point it in the sense that I had no idea how much the 100g mentioned in the book related to what I had put on my plate. I choose not ot have a Yorkshire Pudding (9pp) or any potatoes so I could have more vegetables. However, if I had had the three courses I had been planning on - starter (prawn cocktail - 13pp) / pudding (sundae - 18pp) - it could have been a lot of damage.

WISE CHOICES meant I enjoyed a meal out and no damage to my weekly weight loss hopefully on the scales net Saturday
